A recent incident in Chicago's Chinatown leaves a man injured and the community concerned. Earlier this week, Danxin Shi, a 62-year-old Uber driver, suffered a brutal assault by three women who were caught on police surveillance camera carjacking his vehicle in broad daylight. According to KWQC, the attack transpired at the intersection of 22nd Place and Princeton Avenue.
Shi recounted the harrowing ordeal, which began moments after he parked his car and began to walk toward his apartment. He was quickly set upon by the assailants, two of whom forced him to the ground while the third joined in moments later. Wielding a pipe, one of the women savagely struck Shi before the trio stole his car keys and made off in his vehicle. Despite his efforts to stop them by climbing onto the car's hood, the women sped away, leaving Shi battered and bruised in the street, as reported by Fox 32.
Shi emerged from the ordeal with a resilient spirit, merely suffering scrapes and bruising as a result of the attack. The Chicago Police Department's 9th District officer, Mike Poppish, lauded Shi's bravery, stating, "That's sometimes what we need as a police department, is people that are not afraid to step forward and tell their story." A person of interest was being questioned in connection to the brutal attack, as Fox 32 Chicago reported.
