On Thursday, September 21st, residents of Chicago's 3rd District (Grand Crossing) were confronted with a series of armed robberies that occurred in rapid succession over the span of just one hour. As reported by the Chicago Police Department, these incidents have prompted a community alert.
The offenders, described as one to three African American males aged 20 to 30, targeted unsuspecting victims in the vicinity of 72nd and Calumet streets and 71st Street, brandishing firearms and demanding property. After relieving their victims of their belongings, the assailants would hasten to return to their vehicle—a silver Kia Soul which has since been recovered—and flee the scene.
