Adamich was ordained 75 years ago, and served as an assistant pastor at parishes in Waukegan, Hoffman Estates, Chicago, and as pastor of Mother of God Parish in Waukegan. He retired in 1992 as associate pastor at Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Evergreen Park, where he was bestowed with the title of pastor emeritus at Queen of Peace Parish in North Chicago.
Rev. James Hyland, current pastor at Most Holy Redeemer, noted that Rev. Adamich never stopped ministering to people, "He really loved what he did as a priest." Even in retirement, he continued to celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion and visit the sick until he was unable to drive.
Beyond his pastoral duties, Rev. Adamich was known for his unique approach to snow-shoveling. An enthusiastic devotee of the task – even into his late 90s – his method prioritized ensuring that the snow would melt and run off into a nearby drain.
A Patch article mentioned that on his 100th birthday in 2022, Rev. Adamich, known as Father Al, underscored his belief in the power of prayer, stating that "never pass up the chance to ask people to pray for you." The people he served at Most Holy Redeemer will undoubtedly continue their prayers for the centenarian priest, who touched so many lives with his unwavering dedication to his faith in action.
