Earlier this week, Chicago authorities apprehended an 18-year-old male, charged with one felony count of Vehicular Hijacking and one felony count of Criminal Damage amounting to $10K-100K, according to the Chicago Police Department. Although the offender was a juvenile at the time of the incident, he will still face a juvenile detention hearing today, at 1100 S. Hamilton. At the time of the arrest, the individual was caught in the 2700 block of S. California Ave.
As indicated in the official report, this young man was apprehended in connection with a crime that dates back to June 18, 2022. The offender is charged by the Chicago Police with participating in a harrowing event in which he brazenly took a vehicle by force from a 38-year-old female in the 1600 block of W. 95th St. (22nd District). Afterward, the hijacked vehicle was found involved in a traffic crash, suffering extensive damage.
Facing a juvenile detention hearing, this offender has been handed over to the appropriate judicial authorities for further proceedings. During these hearings, evidence from the case will be presented, and the proper course of action will be formally assessed.
