The city of Elgin recently experienced a parental child abduction. A 2-year-old boy named Kash Hayes was reportedly taken by 34-year-old Kenny Hayes on Friday afternoon. However, in a resolution that brought collective relief, Kash was found safe later in the day, and the police apprehended the suspect, Fox32 Chicago reports.
The Elgin Police Department swiftly responded to a call at 1:55 p.m., which reported the child's abduction in the 1300 block of Amanda Circle, NBC Chicago states. The alleged kidnapper, Kenny Hayes, was said to have taken the child in a gray-colored Infinity sedan which was last seen traveling on Naperville Road from Route 20. The Illinois license plate on the vehicle bore the number EA52844, as noted by the police.
The police, determined to bring about a positive conclusion, investigated the case while urging the public to provide any information that might lead to Kash's recovery. In their effort to motivate community cooperation, the authorities informed citizens that they could submit tips via text message by including "ELGINPD" in the beginning of the message followed by the tip information, Fox32 Chicago explains.
At 6:12 p.m., the Elgin Police Department offered a surprising update, NBC Chicago informs. Kash Hayes had been found unharmed, and the suspect, identified as Kenny Hayes, had been taken into custody.
