Earlier today, two men from Worcester County were indicted for the murder of 62-year-old Michael Parks, bringing forth chilling new details in this case that has gripped Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Thomas Martin and Christian Collins are now facing multiple charges in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred in July, according to NBC Boston.
The Worcester County District Attorney's Office announced that a grand jury has indicted Martin and Collins on charges of murder, home invasion, armed assault in a dwelling, assault with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm without an FID card. Martin has also been indicted on assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as reported by WCVB News.
This tragic story began on the night of July 28, when Fitchburg police received reports of a shooting at a home on Marshall Street. Responding authorities discovered Parks with gunshot wounds, and he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.
An extensive investigation by state and local police ultimately led to the arrest of Martin and Collins. They were arraigned in Fitchburg District Court on August 4, where they were held without bail on charges of murder and home invasion. These latest indictments move the case to Worcester Superior Court, where another arraignment will take place at an undetermined date, as mentioned by NBC Boston.
