Yesterday, at approximately 3:31 pm, tragedy unfolded near the intersection of Morena Blvd. and Asher St. in the City of San Diego. A woman was struck by a northbound Coaster train, which would ultimately claim her life. Despite the prompt arrival of San Diego Police Officers and paramedics rushing to provide aid, the woman's injuries proved too severe, and she did not survive the fatal encounter, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
As reported, the Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit (TEU) handles investigations of incidents along the North County Transit District routes. Upon request, the TEU has taken charge of the investigation, while the Medical Examiner's Office works to identify the woman and determine the cause and manner of her death, pending notification of her family.
