
A tragic rollover accident on the I-57 highway claimed two lives early yesterday, with another individual critically injured. The accident transpired near 99th Street when, for reasons yet unknown, a single vehicle lost control, struck a light pole, and rolled over at approximately 2:30 a.m., as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
To report Illinois State Police Trooper Josh Korando said that of the two fatalities, one person died at the scene and the other later in the hospital. The third casualty, in critical condition, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention, according to ABC7 Chicago.
Closed temporarily were the inbound lanes near 99th Street due to the severe incident. These lanes were reopened by 7 a.m with previous traffic being diverted off at 111th Street, as further detailed by the Chicago Sun-Times.
