Earlier today, Ramon Alfaro-Orona, a 38-year-old Mexican man, was charged with illegal reentry into the United States after being deported eight times prior, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Alfaro-Orona now faces the potential consequence of up to ten years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted.
Alfaro-Orona's most recent deportation occurred on September 30, 2014. The circumstances around his alleged illegal reentry after that point are not clear. Nevertheless, he was taken into custody by immigration authorities on August 23, 2023, following his arraignment in Leominster District Court for three counts of larceny by check over $1,200, as reported by the U.S. Department of Justice.
This is not the first time that Alfaro-Orona has faced legal consequences for unlawful reentry. He has been convicted for the same offense on two prior occasions in November 2013 and March 2014.
