According to the Double Peak Challenge website, this race offers unparalleled beauty as participants make their way along stunning hillside trails with magnificent views. Those not ready for a full 10k are welcome to take part in the 5k Fun Ru.
Onlookers can also enjoy a race expo and beer garden featuring local San Marcos breweries, while participants and supporters alike benefit from amenities such as professional race photography, custom medals, and ample aid stations throughout the course. The event not only promotes fitness and an appreciation for nature but also aims to benefit the San Marcos community through fundraising for two vital non-profit organizations: Friends of San Marcos and The Boys and Girls Club of San Marcos.
Friends of San Marcos has a mission to advocate for the health and happiness of the community and its visitors. They work to enhance the city's parks, recreational programs, and facilities, collaborating with others to achieve shared goals. The Boys and Girls Club of San Marcos, meanwhile, aims to inspire and enable young people to realize their full potential by providing safe environments, adult role models, and engaging educational and recreational activities. The Club serves youth aged 6 (and enrolled in the 1st grade) to 18 during critical hours when they are not under parental supervision.
Race day kicks off with a 6:15 a.m. registration and bag check, followed by a cardio warm-up and stretch led by Orange Theory at the Start Line. The 10k race begins at 7:30 a.m., the 5k at 8:00 a.m., and the Kid's Trail Trot at 9:30 a.m. The awards ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m., marking the conclusion of an event filled with connection, supporting noble causes, and the opportunity to take in the breathtaking beauty of San Marcos.
