
After almost 70 years in business, the renowned Village Restaurant in Essex is set to permanently close this week, with the final day of operation being September 27, according to NBC Boston.
The announcement of the impending closure was met with nostalgia and gratitude from patrons, as well as the Audette family, who owned the Village Restaurant for the past five years. In a Facebook post, the Audette family expressed their appreciation for the community, stating, "This is, indeed, the end of an era BUT the memories we have all made here are forever."
The family also announced extended hours on Monday and Tuesday, September 25 and 26, providing customers with a final opportunity to dine at the iconic seafood restaurant and say their goodbyes. In addition, the Village Restaurant will host a private Staff Farewell Party on Wednesday, September 27 at 4 pm, as a tribute to a dedicated team that served the community for decades.
Initially opened in 1956, the Village Restaurant has become a staple in the Cape Ann culinary scene, delighting locals and visitors alike with its mouthwatering seafood selections as reported in NBC Boston article.
