On Sunday, police responded to a report of a domestic violence incident in the neighborhood of Spence Avenue, Milpitas. As reported by the Milpitas Police Department, the officers arrived at the scene at 7:05 PM, but upon contact, the suspect fled into the side yard of the residence, exacerbating tensions and forcing a large-scale police operation.
Additional officers quickly established a perimeter, prepared to thoroughly and systematically detain the suspect. Resourceful in their approach, the police utilized a drone to safely search the area, focusing especially on the surrounding landscape, including the nearby Spangler Elementary School. To no avail, their efforts failed to apprehend the suspect, and consequently, the police sought to obtain a warrant for his arrest. Heightening the situation, officers soon decided to rely on the SWAT team to serve the warrant.
For the sake of the community's safety, and to ensure a mindful approach, the SWAT team opted to serve the warrant during daylight hours. Remarkably, at 7:23 AM the following day, the SWAT team entered the residence only to discover the suspect had vanished, according to the Milpitas Police Department. The Milpitas Police Department reassured residents that, during the unfolding event, officers were deployed around the residence to maximize safety for all involved. Their statement also expressed gratitude to the Milpitas Fire Department and the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety for providing much-needed assistance.
