
Yesterday, a fatal car crash on Route 495 in Foxborough, Massachusetts resulted in the tragic death of a 24-year-old woman from Mansfield, and serious injuries for a 30-year-old man from North Easton. The incident has ignited discussion about road safety and the need for better infrastructure planning.
According to Massachusetts State Police, the accident occurred around 5:15 PM, involving a 2018 Ford Escape and a 2012 Hyundai Tucson. Both operators were transported to area hospitals for treatment; however, the operator of the Ford later succumbed to her injuries.
In the aftermath of the crash, one vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished by the Foxborough and Plainville Fire Departments, but the blaze prompted a response from the MassDOT to inspect an overpass for potential damage. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by multiple units, including the State Police-Foxboro Barracks, Troop H Detective Unit, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the State Police Detective Unit for Norfolk County.
