Ivan Torres, a 32-year-old man from Fitchburg, Massachusetts, was recently sentenced to 37 months in prison for his role in a wide-ranging drug conspiracy. The case involved the distribution of fentanyl, heroin, crack, and cocaine throughout the Fitchburg area, according to US Attorney's Office.

Following a fatal fentanyl overdose in September 2018, an investigation began into a drug trafficking organization operating in the Fitchburg area. In July 2019, authorities obtained authorization to intercept wire and electronic communications, which revealed Torres role as a cocaine dealer and supplier to the drug trafficking organization as per US Attorney's Office.

Over the course of the investigation, law enforcement seized over 1.8 kilograms of a heroin/fentanyl mixture, over 3.6 kilograms of cocaine, more than 50 grams of crack cocaine, a stolen-loaded handgun, drug manufacturing equipment, and over $376,000 in U.S. currency.

Torres is the 12th defendant to be sentenced in this case, with all 18 defendants standing convicted either by guilty plea or jury conviction following a trial. The remaining convicted defendants are scheduled to be sentenced in September and October 2023.
