The SF Bay Area experienced a sudden surge in its population count recently, although not actually due to any sudden influx of new residents. In a correction issued by the U.S. Census Bureau, 300,000 additional people were accidentally found and added to the population count, an error which was made when the San Rafael-Novato area was mistakenly excluded from the initial tally, this massive miss was along with a few others in different metro areas which were also corrected, affected by this number game are cities like New Orleans and Atlanta.

With the new figures, the population count for 2022 now jump from 3.2 million residents to a whooping 3.5 million in the Bay Area. In the excitement, one must remember, this significant increment isn’t the result of a baby boom year or an influx from another city, but merely an oversight on the part of the Census Bureau, the Atlanta urban area like the Bay Area also enjoyed a surge from 4.9 million to 5.1 million.
