In a transformative move to address the increasing demand for highly skilled nurses in the healthcare industry, Illinois College has partnered with Memorial Health to offer full-tuition scholarships to aspiring nursing students. This pioneering initiative consists of 50 scholarships annually, targeting nursing students from 38 surrounding Illinois counties for a comprehensive tuition coverage during their first two years at the college.
The partnership between the two institutions seeks to alleviate the financial burden for eligible nursing students while also addressing the pressing need for skilled nurses in the region. After the first two years of financial support, these students may go on to work part-time at any Memorial Health site, providing opportunities for valuable hands-on experience in their nursing careers, according to another Fox Illinois article.
These scholarships are in addition to Illinois College's Advantage Plus Program, which already covers 100% of financial need for Illinois residents. The prestigious institution boasts a nearly 200-year history of producing exceptional graduates, and its nursing program proudly claims a 100% first-time NCLEX pass rate for the class of 2023.
The progressive measures taken by Illinois College, such as guaranteeing program admission to qualified applicants without any waitlist and introducing new nursing simulation laboratories and facilities in 2024, signify their commitment to advancing nursing education. Furthermore, the institution employs dedicated nursing "coaches" to ensure individual student success throughout their educational journey.
