Yesterday, Boston Police arrested 35-year-old Byron Palmer in the Roxbury neighborhood, uncovering a wider problem with the presence of so-called ghost guns, firearms with no serial numbers, making them difficult to trace.
According to the Boston Police Department's report, officers of the Youth Violence Strike Force had been on patrol responding to community complaints and addressing quality-of-life issues. They identified Palmer as a suspect wanted in connection to a recent firearm assault. After stopping to speak with him, the officers conducted a pat frisk and discovered the ghost gun, equipped with ten rounds in the magazine, tucked away in his waistband.
Police also found multiple bags containing substances believed to be fentanyl, heroin, and crack cocaine on Palmer's person. Following his arrest, Palmer now faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession with intent to distribute classes A and B; substances. He is set to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
