A man was arrested by the Massachusetts State Police on Friday, September 8th,  for possession of an untraceable "ghost gun."

According to the department, Trooper Paul Martin brought into custody 21-year-old Tresean Jefferson of Brockton, accused of threatening someone with a firearm.

Ghost guns, typically homemade or makeshift firearms lacking serial numbers, have been increasingly appearing in criminal investigations.

Without unique serial numbers, tracing these weapons becomes a difficult, if not impossible, task for authorities.

Jefferson is charged with Illegal Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Ammunition without FID Card. He is now scheduled for arraignment at the Brockton District Court.
