The City of Glendale is announcing a series of community workshops for their inaugural Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), an ambitious project aimed at fostering resilience and mitigating climate impacts on the city and its residents according to the city's official announcement.
The plan will not only address immediate challenges such as extreme weather events (including heatwaves and wildfires), but also chart a course towards a future where Glendale is a model city in terms of sustainability and preparedness for climate-induced phenomena. Reflecting the city's commitment to combating climate change, Glendale's Office of Sustainability, established as a result of a 2010 resolution, will lead the community-driven initiative by providing resources and guidance throughout the process as reported by the city.
The CAAP workshops serve as an opportunity for Glendale residents to raise their voices, express their concerns, and help shape the city's comprehensive strategy to address climate change. The workshops will be held virtually and in various community spaces around the city from October 9 to November 11, 2023. By involving the community, the city aims to create a truly inclusive plan that takes into account the needs and priorities of all residents, with particular attention to those who are most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
Beyond the workshops, Glendale residents can also provide input on the CAAP by completing a survey available on the city's website, or by sending feedback via email to [email protected], further demonstrating the city's dedication to ensuring all residents have a say in determining their collective future.
