Just yesterday, Boston police arrested 36-year-old President after witnessing what they believed to be a drug transaction. Unbeknownst to President, his story would soon become part of the larger conversation of gun control and drug issues afflicting the city.
Upon frisking, the police discovered a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a 15-round magazine and an assortment of narcotics believed to be ecstasy and marijuana.
President's arrest led to a slew of charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, a large capacity feeding device, possession with intent to distribute class B/Class D, firearm while in the commission of a felony, and receiving stolen property. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
The issue of drug-related crimes intertwining with firearms has become a growing concern for law enforcement agencies like the District C-6 (South Boston) Drug Control Unit that arrested President.
