Yesterday, a man was discovered slumped over in a pickup truck, that was partially blocking a business parking lot at the 600 block of N Cleveland Street. The unresponsive individual had a loaded, semi-automatic firearm with a shaved serial number resting in his lap, potentially putting countless lives at risk, yet the keen observation and swift response of law enforcement averted any tragedy from unfolding.
According to the Oceanside Police Department's Facebook post, officers responded to calls just after 8 a.m. and cautiously approached the scene. Once officers observed the subject was breathing and didn’t appear to be suffering from any obvious injury, they requested the emergency rescue vehicle to respond.
Upon the arrival of the emergency response vehicle, the man eventually became responsive and was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect now faces charges for suspicion of driving under the influence, removal of firearm identification, and illegal possession of a loaded firearm, as noted in the Facebook post by the authorities.
