Yesterday, a potentially alarming event unfolded near Grange Middle School in East Tabor. A man, spotted carrying what appeared to be a firearm, caught the attention of nearby law enforcement. According to the Fairfield Police Department's Facebook post, the incident transpired around 1:16 p.m. and resulted in an officer-involved shooting.
Upon the arrival of officers, they engaged with the suspect, leading to shots being fired. Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries, while the man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He received medical assistance on-site and was later transported to a local hospital for treatment.
East Tabor remained closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene.
As the investigation into the event is still actively ongoing, authorities have not released details regarding potential charges or the suspect's motives. The Facebook post clearly stated that there was no longer any threat to public safety or the nearby school following the confrontation.
