In the early hours yesterday, emergency teams were dispatched to combat a blaze that had erupted in a residential building on 3550 South Rhodes. According to a tweet by the Chicago Fire Department Media, the fire was contained to a single unit on the 10th floor of the 24-story high-rise. Remarkably, the swift EMS response, designated as S & B EMS Plan 1, led to the fire being struck out by 2-1-21, within the same day.

The building's occupants were fortunate to have only faced minimal disruption as a result of this potentially disastrous incident. CFD Media reported that there were four instances of EMS refusals during the incident, where people declined medical assistance. Human services were contacted as a precautionary measure for potential displacements due to the fire. This critical situation highlights the importance of rapid response when it comes to residential fires, especially in high-density living situations such as high-rise apartment buildings.
