Earlier today, Red Oak Elementary School in the north suburban Highland Park received a bomb threat, resulting in the evacuation of students and authorities investigating the incident. Red Oak Lane was closed between Ridge Road and Rosemary Road as a safety measure during the investigation.
Students were safely relocated to nearby Sherwood Elementary School while police carried out their investigation. Thankfully, later that day, the all clear was given by law enforcement, and no cause for concern was found, according to CBS News.
North Shore 112 Superintendent Dr. Mike Lubelfield made a statement shortly after the all clear was given, saying, "I'm pleased to report ALL CLEAR at Red Oak School. The building has been thoroughly searched - we have no cause for concern. We will resume normal operations at 11:30 a.m. All Bus Routes will be running at 11:00 a.m.", as reported by Fox 32 Chicago.
The nature of the bomb threat remains unclear. At this time, it's difficult to say whether this was a prank or a genuine threat.
