As summer slowly draws to a close, Downtown Danville prepares to host the Hot Summer Sundays Car Show on September 10, a lively event that promises to delight both automotive enthusiasts and local residents alike. However, the celebration comes with a caveat, as several streets will be closed to accommodate the festivities, according to a traffic advisory issued by the town of Danville. The closures, which begin at 6 a.m., will affect popular thoroughfares such as Hartz Avenue, Linda Mesa Avenue, Diablo Road, Prospect Avenue, and Church Street.
As if navigating around these closures weren't enough of a challenge, ongoing construction adds an extra layer of complexity for those trying to access the car show. The northbound direction of Front Street between Diablo Road and East Linda Mesa Avenue remains closed due to the ongoing project, which impacts access to Downtown Danville. Despite these hurdles, the town assures that businesses, patrons, and residents can still access the southbound travel lane and on-street parking on the west side of Front Street during the event.
For visitors traveling from the north, the El Cerro Boulevard exit off the 680 freeway is advised, while those hailing from the south should opt for the Sycamore Valley Boulevard exit. In anticipation of the closure timeframe, parking is available on surrounding public streets and in all downtown Municipal Parking lots.
