Byron Boisseau, a 44-year-old man from Revere now facing assault and battery charges. Initially arrested on July 23 for impersonating a police officer, Boisseau has now been accused of attacking a TV reporter after his arraignment, according to The Boston Globe.
Boisseau's initial arrest and subsequent charges stemmed from an episode on Ocean Avenue, Revere. A driver reported a white Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Boisseau, dressed in security gear and displaying police-style equipment, following closely behind with amber lights flashing. Among the materials he possessed were handcuffs, a vehicle push bar bumper, and a BB gun resembling a Glock. According to the Boston.com, Boisseau claimed to work as a security contractor, which only compounded suspicions.
Upon being arraigned a few days later, a TV reporter attempted to get a statement from Boisseau as he departed the courthouse. Instead, the confrontational suspect grabbed and shoved the reporter multiple times. Thankfully, the reporter did not suffer any major injuries, as noted by the Boston 25 News. Following advice from investigators, the reporter captured this unpleasant encounter on video.
Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden issued a public statement announcing the new charges placed against Boisseau: assault and battery on a person over 60, alluding to the reporter's age. Hayden made it clear that violence or use of force against anyone performing their professional duties would not be tolerated. Boisseau appeared in Chelsea District Court for his new arraignment, and the judge imposed a condition for him to stay away from and have no contact with the victim.
