Loaded Firearm Seized in Boston Traffic Stop TodaySouce: Boston Police Department

Earlier today, officers from the District B2 (Roxbury) Anti-Crime unit conducted a traffic stop that led to the recovery of a loaded firearm.

According to a Boston Police report, officers initiated the traffic stop after noticing a vehicle with excessive tinted windows. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the occupants moving around quickly and seemingly nervously. The driver of the vehicle, who admitted his window tints exceeded the legal limit, initially refused to roll the windows down, claiming the window would break if rolled down.

Officers eventually issued an exit order to the occupants of the vehicle and, upon searching the vehicle, discovered a loaded Glock 30 semi-automatic firearm with an obliterated serial number. The firearm contained 23 rounds of ammunition in a magazine with the capacity for holding 29 rounds, located inside an unzipped backpack, a box containing 19 additional 9mm rounds of ammunition, and an empty magazine capable of holding 13 rounds. A debit card bearing the name Sonvonn Jones was also found inside the bag.

Jones now faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device, and defacing a firearm serial number. He is scheduled for arraignment at Roxbury District Court.
