A man named Christopher Pelkey, who has been charged in two separate cases of aggravated assault but served minimal jail time due to misdemeanor pleas. Now, he faces new charges brought forth by a third woman, as reported by NBC Boston.
Pelkey, 35, has now been accused by Andrea Stevens of choking her, assaulting her young son, and threatening to kill them both with a hammer. In a chilling recount, Stevens says Pelkey "almost killed me" and calls for him to "serve his time for what he's done."
As one of the earlier victims, Ashley Alaimo, texted her disbelief at the inadequate punishment Pelkey received: "He shouldn't have had an opportunity to do it again! Let alone to multiple women."
In response to questions about the sheer inadequacy of Pelkey's sentencing, Christopher Almy, a prosecutor with the Penobscot County district attorney's office, admits domestic violence cases are difficult to prove. However, the traumatic experiences of Pelkey's victims hold weight in this ongoing story, demanding a more efficient response from the legal system.
With Pelkey currently held in lieu of $10,000 bail at the Penobscot County Jail, both his previous victims and Stevens now look toward the future with hope for a sentence that adequately responds to the severity of his alleged crimes.
