At around 7 AM today, a Massachusetts State Police Trooper responded to a 911 call on Richmond Road in Hancock.
The trooper found himself in an interaction with an adult male in the vicinity, eventually leading to the discharge of the officer's service weapon and the subsequent fatality of the said male, according to MSP News.
As is common in these situations, the circumstances that led up to the fatal incident remain somewhat vague and require further investigation.
The Berkshire County District Attorney's Office is currently overseeing the case, as reported on MSP News.
Any necessary updates should be expected from their office, as those conducting the investigation have yet to offer a clear reason for the lethal use of force.
