
An unfortunate traffic accident occurred on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Southborough this past Friday. Two vehicles, a van and a pickup truck, were involved in a collision causing considerable damage along with serious injuries. Four individuals in total were injured in the accident.
The accident occurred near the 109.3-mile marker on the westbound side of the Mass. Pike. It was just before 7 p.m. and became evident that two occupants of a van were trapped and required extraction. Hydraulic rescue tools were deployed. The wreckage was cut away providing access to the trapped passengers. The Southborough Fire Department reported that the injured individuals were taken to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries.
The response to the accident was a collective effort by multiple emergency service agencies from the surrounding area. Acknowledged is the teamwork displayed by the Westborough Fire Department, Brewster Ambulance Service, and responders from Framingham in aiding the victims. Necessary assistance was offered, which resulted in the successful mitigation of further harm from the accident. The Southborough Fire Department in particular commended the cooperative response midst the adverse situation.
