Yesterday, a family dispute escalated into gunfire in Bolingbrook, Illinois. Following the incident, authorities urged residents to take shelter, and schools in the area were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. The suspected shooter fled the scene, resulting in an ongoing search by law enforcement, according to NBC Chicago.
As reported, the shooting took place around 1:54 p.m., in the 300 block of Walnut Circle. Bolingbrook police arrived at the scene to find a man, whose condition remained undisclosed at the time, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was consequently taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. As stated by police, the motivation behind the shooting seems to have been a family argument, rather than a random act of violence. A subsequent release by the Bolingbrook Police Department advised the public to avoid the area of Boughton Road and Route 53, where officers were to quickly locate the suspect, who had fled on foot before their arrival, NBC Chicago reported.
In the midst of the turmoil, the Valley View Community School District 365-U took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to alert residents about the unfolding situation. Meanwhile, CBS Chicago informed that all Bolingbrook schools had been issued a "secure building and teach" order and that the scheduled dismissal would be delayed until further notice.
