Sunday night, Giselle Andino, a 33-year-old North County mother, experienced a nightmare when she was brutally stabbed and carjacked at the Civic Center Transit Station in Vista. "Nowadays, the way things are, you can't trust anybody, not even a 15-year-old kid," says Andino, according to NBC San Diego.
Overcome with pain and fear, the mother's concern ultimately turned to the safety of her 8-year-old daughter, McKenzie, as the injurious impact of her encounter with the assailant took its toll. In a heart-wrenching statement, she remarks, "I do feel lucky, yes, because when I was calling for help and the blood was spraying out of my chest, I really felt like I wasn’t going to see my kid again," per NBC San Diego.
Deputies initiated a pursuit, and following an extended chase, the teenager crashed the vehicle right before reaching State Route 76, according to investigators. Subsequently, he was apprehended following a 20-minute on-foot pursuit.
The suspect, a 15-year-old, received medical attention at a hospital and was subsequently transported to Juvenile Hall, as reported by the sheriff's department. He was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder, carjacking, and felony evasion, as reported by Fox 5.
