According to a tweet by the Boston Police Department, the water main break precipitated a traffic advisory affecting several streets, including Kilmarnock Street, Brookline Avenue, Boylston Street, and Park Drive. Both motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic were significantly affected by the unforeseen flooding.
Among those impacted were fans attempting to swiftly but securely attend the highly anticipated 1:35 PM Red Sox-Yankees game at the nearby Fenway Park.
