Earlier today, at approximately 4 a.m., a single-vehicle accident occurred on Route 3 in Pembroke, Massachusetts, leaving one person dead and injuring two others, according to NBC Boston. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time as investigations are still ongoing conducted by multiple State Police units.
Massachusetts State Police responded to the crash on the southbound side of Route 3 near its intersection with Route 139. The vehicle involved in the accident was a single car with three occupants, one pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by Boston25 News. The other two passengers were swiftly transported to a local hospital for treatment. The current condition of the injured, however, remains unknown.
The cause of the accident is still under pursuit, with multiple divisions of the Massachusetts State Police working together. The officers currently investigating this case include the State Police-Norwell Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Plymouth County, WCVB revealed.
The severity of the crash led to lane closures on the highway which were reopened as of 7:30 a.m., allowing traffic to resume its course.
