Yesterday, the Hinsdale and Addison communities in Illinois were shaken by an armed robbery incident that led to a high-profile manhunt in the area. Two suspects, armed with pistols, reportedly robbed a Verizon store in Addison this afternoon afternoon. The police managed to apprehend one offender, while another remains at large, causing significant concern among residents and prompting a large-scale police investigation. According to ABC7 Chicago, law enforcement sources stated that the suspects were last seen wearing a black and red hoodie and a white t-shirt.
Following a report of the armed robbery at around 1 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Lake Street, Addison police deployed officers to the scene and swiftly coordinated efforts with Hinsdale authorities to locate the suspects, Fox 32 Chicago reports that officers found a vehicle connected to the crime near the area of I-294 and Ogden Avenue. With assistance from Hinsdale police, they were able to locate and place one offender into custody in a Hinsdale neighborhood; however, the other offender is still on the run, causing great concern among local residents.
Illinois State Police have confirmed their response to the armed robbery and support the ongoing search for another offender. Helicopters, dogs, and a large police presence are aiding in the search, along with drones utilized by various jurisdictions, according to ABC7 Chicago. As a precaution, The Lane School, situated near the search area in Hinsdale, went into lockdown as local law enforcement canvassed the area.
