
On Monday, a fire erupted in a home on the 4100 Block of Emporia Ct., Naperville. The quick response from the Naperville Fire Department helped prevent a potential disaster, and the structure of the house was saved thanks to the department's quick action.
The City of Naperville reported that at 8:57 p.m., the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) got a call reporting the fire. Immediately, ten pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel, that included an Incident Commander and an Incident Safety Officer, were dispatched. Occupants were advised by the PSAP to quickly evacuate the building.
Engine 6 arrived at the scene, within four minutes of the call. The fire was located on the home's exterior, confirmed by a 360-degree survey of the premises. The building was found to be fully evacuated. The Naperville Fire Department (NFD) successfully extinguished the blaze in only six minutes of arrival, using just a single hose line.
No extension of fire had occurred into the home's interior, due to the skill and professionalism demonstrated by the NFD, only damage was sustained to the house's exterior. Minor smoke present inside the house was removed using natural ventilation. This event resulted in no injuries to either occupants or firefighters.
Naperville officials believe that the cause of fire was accidental. The Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development team evaluated the structure and declared it habitable. Thus, residents were able to return to their home.
The NFD was assisted by the Naperville Police Department during the incident. Additional coverage was also provided by Oswego FPD, Bolingbrook FD, and to Plainfield FPD. The incident showcased the efficiency of Naperville's public safety services.
The swift response of the Naperville Fire Department and their successful containment of the fire avoided a major tragedy. It reflects the high standards of public safety maintained by Naperville.
