
Earlier today, a chilling occurrence transpired in the north suburban area of Niles, Chicago. A 17-year-old boy was fatally struck by a car in the street of the 8200 block of West Ballard Road, according to CBS News.
Police were alerted promptly and arrived on the scene at approximately 2:30 a.m., where they discovered the critically injured young man lying in the street, as reported by ABC 7 Chicago. Desperate attempts were made to save his life, as he was swiftly transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, and he was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival. The child's name has yet to be released.
In a the midst of the unfolding tragedy, investigators determined that the 17-year-old was already lying in the road when he was struck by a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The 21-year-old driver has expressed that he was unaware that the somber impact was with a person. He has reported that he is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, and there is no indication of impairment, as mentioned in CBS News.
