In Revere, Massachusetts, a 57-year-old man identified as Don Algeni is accused of stabbing his dog to death and assaulting a female roommate.
As Newsbreak reported earlier today, officers arrived at Algeni's Lowell Street apartment around 1 a.m. on August 30th following a call regarding medical reasons. Upon entering the residence, they discovered Algeni in bed, bloodied arms and screaming to death, begging the police to kill him. His uniquely tragic plea would soon to become all the clearer, as authorities found his dog next to his bed. The unfortunate creature had been inflicted with at least five stab wounds, one of which was deep enough to almost sever its head, according to a press release from the district attorney's office.
As NBC Boston details, the district attorney's office revealed that Algeni had allegedly assaulted his female roommate prior to murdering his own dog. He had banged on the woman's bedroom door and threatened her before committing the horrendous act. The woman also shared a chilling revelation that about a week earlier, Algeni had ominously stated, "I'm going out and I'm not going out alone."
Authorities discovered swords and knives in the apartment, including a bloody 12-inch Bowie knife.
Algeni appeared in Chelsea District Court last week and was arraigned on charges of animal cruelty, malicious killing or injury to a domestic animal, and assault and battery on a family or household member, as reported by the Boston Globe. Judge Kareem Morgan ruled Algeni be held without bail, with a dangerousness hearing pending.
