UPDATE: A missing person alert for Nyara Jade Mitchell, a 14-year-old from West Roxbury, has been canceled. Per Boston PD, Mitchell is a frequent runaway.
A 14-year-old named Nyara Jade Mitchell was last seen on August 23, 2023. Detectives from West Roxbury have issued a missing person alert, urging the public to help locate Nyara, who went missing after being dropped off at Roxbury Prep School.
Nyara Jade Mitchell is described as a black female, 5'2", 175 lbs, with maroon and black braided hair, brown eyes, a nose piercing, and a birthmark on her left hand. The day she went missing, she was wearing her Roxbury Prep uniform which consisted of a blue shirt, blue pants, and carrying a black North Face backpack. Nyara is known to frequently run away, visiting areas such as Downtown Crossing, Wensley St., and Wilbert St.
The community has gathered together in supporting the search for Nyara, organizing search parties and sharing information on social media in hopes of bringing her home safely. The authorities have encouraged anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact 911 or E-5 Detectives at 617-343-4560.
A dedicated tip line has also been established for those who prefer to share information anonymously.
