Massachusetts State Police were on regular patrol along Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan when they made a routine traffic stop that uncovered a stolen gun which was loaded, narcotics, and a mask eerily similar to the one used by horror flick legend Micheal Myers from the movie Halloween. Thursday, September 7, Massachusetts State Police troopers pulled over Argenys Duran, 35, of Roxbury, for using a phone while driving. The seemingly unremarkable traffic violation would lead them to discover an assortment of illegal and generally unusual items.
As the troopers approached Duran's white Ford Edge, they claim that they were struck by the odor of marijuana. A more thorough investigation of the scene would lead to the discovery of an open bottle of alcohol, packaging materials for illegal narcotics, and ultimately, an utterly unsettling revelation within an innocent-looking child safety seat. The troopers unearthed a loaded .380 caliber pistol, more than four pounds of marijuana and THC products, psychedelic mushroom products, and a large sum of money, all concealed within what is intended as a safe haven children.
But the troopers' perturbing findings did not end here. As a matter of fact, a search of the firearm's serial number revealed the weapon had been reported stolen in Maine, adding an element of interstate crime to Duran's disturbing collection. According to the Massachusetts State Police statement, Duran was arrested and transported to Milton Barracks for booking.
Duran faces a litany of charges, amongst them illegal possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, receiving stolen property, and possession of Class C and D substances with intent to distribute. Furthermore, Duran is charged with misuse of RMV document, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, use of an electronic device while driving, and an equipment violation. Duran was scheduled for arraignment at Dorchester District Court.
