Two days ago at Slater Middle School in Santa Rosa, a student's joke about possessing a firearm propelled a series of investigations by the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD). While the young student's backpack harbored no gun, a disconcerting photograph of a firearm was found on his social media.
This find led investigators in a direction that revealed a dangerous reality of reckless shootings and illegal possession charges within the community. Further details can be found on the Santa Rosa Police Department's Facebook page.
This investigation resulted in the apprehension of several individuals. The arrests include 29-year-old Alvaro Sandoval, charged with possession of a controlled substance; a 17-year-old resident, responsible for at least three negligent discharges; 21-year-old Omar Corsino-Moreno, implicated in child endangerment and further negligent shootings; and 18-year-old Diego Sandoval, charged with child endangerment and negligent discharge.
