SeaWorld San Diego recently announced the upcoming addition of a brand new exhibit to their park, "Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience." Set to open in 2024, this first-of-its-kind exhibit for SeaWorld parks will immerse visitors in the underwater world of jellyfish, providing a captivating and educational experience.
Dr. Chris Dold, Chief Zoological Officer of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, shared his excitement about the new exhibit, stating that the Jellyfish Experience offers an "amazing opportunity like no other – a chance for our guests to see up close the spectacular details of these underwater marvels and witness how they live their lives in astonishing clarity."
According to SeaWorld, The immersive experience will feature three distinct galleries, each showcasing a different species of jellyfish, including Moon Jellyfish, Pacific Sea Nettles, Upside-Down Jellyfish, and Comb Jellies. Visitors will be enchanted by the ethereal glow of the jellyfish as they gracefully move through the water, their translucent bodies appearing like living fireworks. Educational components and staff will offer insights into the biology and unique traits of these captivating creatures.
Beyond the stunning visuals, the exhibit aims to remind guests of the importance of environmental conservation. Through the Jellyfish Experience, SeaWorld hopes to inspire a better understanding of the need to protect jellyfish and the oceans they inhabit. The exhibit will also include features designed to support and showcase the jellyfish, such as circular habitats for optimal water flow and an 18-foot-tall cylinder – one of the tallest jelly cylinders in the country.
Adding to the exhibit's interactive elements, visitors will be able to upgrade their experience with a behind-the-scenes tour led by an aquarist. This hands-on opportunity will provide guests with the chance to touch and learn even more about jellyfish, propagation, and conservation efforts. With SeaWorld's accreditation as a zoo and aquarium by the American Zoological Association, the Jellyfish Experience will join other marine-life exhibits and habitats throughout the park that allow guests to observe various aquatic species up-close.

These passholders will be among the first to explore the multi-room aquarium before it opens to the general public.
