Approached by two unknown offenders, at least one assailant brandished a handgun and opened fire, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The man suffered gunshot wounds to his body but was quickly transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Initial reports described his condition as good, which proved a small relief amidst the chaos and aftermath of the shocking event.
