In the span of less than an hour yesterday, residents of Near West faced an alarming series of armed robberies, with three incidents occurring in quick succession, according to a community alert issued by the local authorities.
The criminals brandishing handguns and even a rifle, targeted unsuspecting victims, demanding everything they had. Those who found themselves on the wrong end of these threats had no choice but to comply, handing over their belongings to the gun-wielding bandits. The culprits subsequently fled the scene, escaping in either a black SUV or dark sedan.
According to the police information, the suspects are described as three Hispanic males, aged 16-25. In an unsettling fashion, these individuals were clad in all black clothing, with black masks shrouding their identities. It is with this description that the public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
The incidents took place at the following locations and times: first, on the 1900 Block of West 21st Street at 5:15 A.M.; then, on the 2900 Block of West Fulton Street, at 5:36 A.M.; and finally, on the 2300 Block of West Walnut Street, at 5:40 A.M. Citizens in the vicinity of these crimes are urged to take caution, and to be aware of their surroundings.
