Earlier today, a 40-year-old man fell victim to that violence on the 9000 block of South Emerald. The Chicago Police Department described the harrowing events that unfolded at 12:40 a.m.
The victim was standing on the street when an unidentified male approached on foot, firing shots and striking the victim in the chest. The unfortunate man was transported by the Chicago Fire Department to Christ Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
As of now, no one has been taken into custody in relation to this particular act of violence.
Area Two detectives continue to investigate, seeking to apprehend the perpetrator and deliver justice for the fallen.
