The Department of Justice announced that Larry Dennis, a 39-year-old from Markham, Illinois, had been sentenced to six and a half years in federal prison for dealing crack cocaine and illegally possessing a loaded handgun, yesterday.
Early in 2021, an informant purchased crack on three separate occasions from Dennis.
The court authorized a search of Dennis's residence in January 2021. The find was significant: there was cocaine, marijuana, drug packaging materials, and a loaded handgun.
It is not his first brush with the law, as Dennis has past convictions on multiple state felonies, firearm offenses among them, and was not lawfully permitted to own the gun that was found in his possession. Furthermore, authorities alleged that in December 2020, Dennis pointed a gun at another man during a drug-debt dispute in the driveway of his home.
