
Today, the Chicago Police Department announced an arrest in connection with a home invasion incident. 26-year-old Joseph Tobias is in custody, with charges including home invasion, firearm discharge, attempted murder, and aggravated battery. His apprehension occurred in the early hours of September 29, mere hours after the crime's occurrence on September 28.
According to the CPD's official report, Tobias allegedly entered forcibly a residence on the 3300 block of W. Maypole Ave (11th District). Brandishing a handgun, the suspect fired at the residents within. The incident has no doubt drawn attention to the issue of home invasion crimes in Chicago.
Details in this case are still emerging. Tobias is scheduled for a detention hearing on September 30, 2023, at the 2600 S. California Court.
