The relentless search for the perpetrator behind the murder of 22-year-old Mario Santos on February 21, 2023, in Dorchester has finally resulted in an arrest. According to the Boston Police Department, Trevon Wideman, 19, was apprehended at around 6 AM Saturday, September 9th.
Officers from the BPD Fugitive Unit and District B-2 (Roxbury) found Wideman in the area of 16 Kineo Street in Dorchester. At the time of his arrest, the young suspect was wanted on murder, armed assault to rob with a firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm warrants from Dorchester District Court.
Wideman is now awaiting arraignment for the charges.
The NBC Boston reported the tragic incident that took place earlier this year, in which Santos lost his life.
On the night of February 21, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on Wilrose Street at around 7:39 PM. Upon arrival, they discovered two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Santos was pronounced dead on the scene, while the other victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
