A Tennessee man has been sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in a dangerous underground gun trade that extended across state lines. 27-year-old John Pierre was found guilty of trafficking at least 30 firearms in the Boston area, according to the United States Attorney's Office of Massachusetts.
Earlier this year, Pierre pleaded guilty to the indictment and was subsequently sentenced by U.S. Senior District Court Judge Mark L. Wolf on September 7. In addition to his two-year incarceration, Pierre will face three years of supervised release.
According to law enforcement officials, Pierre began his illegal activities by moving from Massachusetts to Tennessee, legally purchasing firearms in his new state of residence before embarking on multiple trips back to Massachusetts to smuggle and sell the guns.
Pierre's arrest last year at South Station in Boston, where he was found carrying a bag containing 11 firearms, large capacity magazines, and numerous rounds of ammunition, ultimately led to the investigation that would uncover his operation.
