Chicago stands on the precipice of a turbulent Tuesday morning, with steady rain and thundershowers predicted to blanket large parts of the city. This meteorological affliction is set to potentially snarl the morning commute for thousands of residents.
According to the NBC 5 Storm Team, the forecast promises scattered showers throughout parts of Cook, Kendall and LaSalle counties. The deluge is expected to gain momentum during the morning commute and continue well into the afternoon. Specifically, NBC 5 Meteorologist Alicia Roman notes that the greatest potential for substantial rainfall is from the early morning hours until 12 p.m.
The precipitation won't simply dampen, but also electrify the atmosphere with some showers escalating to thundershowers. In addition, isolated storms may make their presence felt, primarily across areas north of Interstate 80, as per the National Weather Service.

Fleeting relief may be found in the afternoon, when showers are likely to subside. Nevertheless, a thinly-veiled sky awaits, with clouds casting shadows over the streets of Chicago. Tempering the foreboding veil of gray, meteorologist Roman predicts a slim possibility of afternoon rain persisting in the area. As uncertainty looms, the narrative of struggle and hope continues.
In the meantime, another round of showers is slated to descend upon the city overnight, echoing the intermittent nature of the storm. Occasional rainfall is anticipated to linger into the early hours of Wednesday, adding yet another layer to the constantly evolving landscape of this great metropolis.
Despite the unpredictable deluge, temperatures are set to stand their ground with seasonal highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, as noted by Roman. The forecast, however, promises a return to more summer-like warmth by Wednesday. The city is expected to be bathed in the embrace of a stretch of 80-degree days as the week unfolds and fall officially begins on Saturday.
